These course offerings are part of our Education Services. They are designed to introduce the essentials of The Zachman Framework™ in order to enable the management and implementation of Enterprise Architecture projects.

Also, these courses form the foundation for the education portion of the newly launched Zachman Certified™ program. Many organizations are now requiring applied knowledge of The Zachman Framework™. For full details, see our Zachman Certified pages.

In-house seminars, briefings, and workshops are also available.

Zachman Enterprise Architecture Course Schedule

Z101 MasterClass: Enterprise Architecture - A Revolution in Concepts

Taught by John A. Zachman, the objective of this two-day course is to build an understanding of the concepts of Enterprise Architecture and develop a sense of urgency for implementing those concepts in a modern enterprise. Enterprise Architecture is fundamental for enabling an enterprise to assimilate internal changes in response to the external dynamics and uncertainties of the information age environment. It not only constitutes a baseline for managing change, but also provides the mechanism by which the reality of the enterprise and its systems can be aligned with management intentions.

Z102 MasterClass: Enterprise Architecture Implementation Strategies

Prerequisite: Z101 MasterClass: Enterprise Architecture - A Revolution in Concepts

Taught by Stan Locke, this course explores how to strategically implement Enterprise Architecture. It will look at how to bring together two apparently opposing conditions – the short term need to deliver a solution on time and within budget, and the long term adaptability requirements of the enterprise. The course examines the underlying constructs of The Zachman Framework™ and the implications of "Thinking Zachman™" to give a more balanced view of the entire enterprise. Given that architecting an Enterprise is fundamental to the ongoing success of an organization, this course has attempted to bring real world examples of what to do and not to do. The blending of consulting situations with the theory of the Zachman™ approach yields a most interesting set of practical guideposts to those working on engineering the enterprise.

Z103 Pragmatics: Enterprise Modeling Workshop

This three-day workshop is led by John Zachman, Stan Locke and David Kingston. It is designed to bridge the gap between the conceptual and the practical. The concepts presented in the MasterClass provide the bedrock for understanding Enterprise Architecture and The Zachman Framework™, however the catalyst for bringing these concepts together is application. The modeling workshop is designed for just that- applied knowledge. For instance, it's great to know that a Primitive model of the Enterprise exists, but what does one look like and how do you build one? How do you use a Primitive Model, derive Composite models and then ultimately manage your Enterprise with them? These are the issues that have plagued management for years, and these are the issues we will address in this workshop.

Z104 Refresher: Zachman Certified™ Refresher

This two-day course is led by John A. Zachman and Stan Locke. It is designed to "re-fresh" the concepts taught in both Z101 and Z102 MasterClass Courses by reviewing basic EA concepts dealing with complexity and change, Enterprise mass customization, Framework classification, primitive vs composite models of the Enterprise and MetaFrameworks.

It also introduces new concepts, and surveys any new developments in enterprise tools and methodologies in addition to refreshing participants in how to build sample models and an open forum for questions and answers.

The Refresher Course is designed specifically for Zachman Certified™ - Enterprise Architects as a means to keep their certification current. Also, it is designed for previous participants of the MasterClass who took the course prior to August 2005 as a way to attain credit towards the education portion of Certification.
