Z103 Pragmatics: Enterprise Modeling Workshop

Enterprise Modeling Workshop

A Thee-Day Workshop
by
John Zachman, Stan Locke & David Kingston

Purpose

This workshop is designed to bridge the gap between the conceptual and the practical. The concepts presented in the MasterClass provide the bedrock for understanding Enterprise Architecture and The Zachman Framework™, however the catalyst for bringing these concepts together is application. The modeling workshop is designed for just that - applied knowledge. For instance, it's great to know that a Primitive model of the Enterprise exists, but what does one look like and how do you build one? How do you use a Primitive Model, derive Composite models and then ultimately manage your Enterprise with them? These are the issues that have plagued management for years, and these are the issues we will address in this workshop.

Course Objectives

  • Build primitive models for every Cell of The Framework.
  • Build the Enterprise’s Architecture piece by piece.
  • Integrate the Enterprise implementation by (horizontal) associations.
  • Ensure alignment and transformation Quality through the (vertical) associations.
  • Define implementation phase boundaries (Enterprise Architecture planning).
  • Use Enterprise Architecture in the day-to-day management and operation of the Enterprise.

Course Contents

ASSOCIATIONS

  • Why these associations are important to you.
  • Relating components in the cell.
  • Integrating the "across row" perspective model.
  • Transforming the cell down the column.
  • Nine Reasons for using the scoping associations.
  • Completion of a partial architecture model case study.

METHODOLOGY OBSERVATIONS

  • Ascertaining which cells are important to you.
